Categorize an Item in Outlook on the Web: Overview

            To categorize an item in Outlook on the Web within the Mail, Calendar, or Tasks app, right-click the item. Then hover over the “Categorize” command in the pop-up menu that appears. Finally, choose one of the listed categories from the menu that appears to assign the item to that category. The category you chose is shown onscreen by a small bar that is the color of the category you picked.

            To clear the assigned categories from an item, right-click the item. Then hover over the “Categorize” command in the pop-up menu that appears. Then click “Clear categories” to remove an item from its assigned category.

          When creating new Calendar or Task items, you can set the category while you are creating it. To do this, click the “More” dots in the menu list at the top of the item creation pane. Then hover over the “Categorize” command in the drop-down menu that appears. Then click a category in the side menu that appears.

Categorize an Item in Outlook on the Web: Instructions

1. To categorize an item in Outlook on the Web in the Mail, Calendar or Task apps, right-click the item and hover over “Categorize.”
2. Choose a category from the list. A small, vertical bar of color matching the category you chose will display on the right side of the item.
3. To clear a category from an item, right-click the item and hover over “Categorize.”
4. Click “Clear categories” to remove that item from the category.
5. To assign a category to a Calendar or Task item when you are creating it, click the “More” dots and hover over “Categorize.”
6. Choose the category from the list to assign it to the Calendar or Task item you are creating.
